Comments

VFR stamp is a time-saver--no need for a full brief for experienced pilots.

Action sequence:

·        Starts with a DD-175.

·        Forecaster enters the initial data into a dash-1 program which is part of a suite of programs in MIDDS.

·        Forecaster looks at route including destination and alternatives.

·        Forecaster considers whether or not to adjust local forecasts.

·        Considers whether or not they can fly the route and what they will encounter along the way.

·        Fill in the rest of the dash-1.

What supports the action sequence?

What is the needed information?

CONTEL Meteorological Workstation provides forecasts from any station in the US--DOD, NWS, airports.

Dash-1 program and sat, radar, warnings - all the usual stuff.

NOTE: Flight Weather Briefer is only good for canned routes (not to prepare the dash-1s).

Local and non-local observations, forecasts, warnings, pilot reports sent via CONTEL Meteorological Workstation.

What is good or useful about the support and the depiction of needed information?

·        Most of the data is pretty easy to access - all in windows. It is easy to scroll through

What about the support or information depiction makes the action sequence difficult?

·        One has to send a request to a station every time you use it--causes time delay.

·        If the information is not timely, if the flow of data is stopped or reduced, it takes longer to do the job.

·        There is lots of information on a dash-1.
