Record - Reproduce Audio Problems Note: Direct audio is live time audio before it is put on the tape. Of course, direct audio should be checked first to ensure that you have a good input signal. There is no way to check the record audio between the time it is first put on the tape and when it is reproduced. Reproduced audio is audio that has been picked off of the tape by the reproduce head and sent to the reproduce amplifier. It then leaves on pin 7 and is sent to SW204. SW204 selects the transport that is the source of the reproduced audio. From SW204 the audio goes to the monitor amplifier to drive the VU meter and speaker. If direct or reproduced audio is bad on only one channel, on one or both transports, a record amplifier should be suspected. If audio on all channels is bad only on one transport, the more likely problem would be a reproduce amplifier.
